In May of 1972, I opened my first store on 35 Jefferson Road in Branford, CT and named it Wintersports Inc. My experience as a sales representative for Rossignol Ski Company had provided me with valuable insights into the specialty sporting goods business. From 1974 to 1978, a seasonal satellite winter store at Powder Ridge Ski Area, in Middlefield, CT was added. In 1976 we moved to our current location at 324 West Main Street in Branford CT. Also, in 1976, I changed the name to Action Sports Inc., with the realization that our focus would expand beyond the winter sports market. Two more store locations were added, Old Saybrook, CT opened in 1978 and Cheshire, CT in 1992. Unfortunatley our Cheshire store closed their doors for good on September 20, 2009. We'd like to thank the Cheshire and surrounding communities for their support over the years. We hope you will continue to visit us in our Branford and Old Saybrook stores.

My philosophy from the inception has been to offer quality merchandise with the best selection possible, competitive pricing and an expertly trained and certified professional sales staff. I also believe that by employing certified master mechanics, coupled with the latest in technical equipment, we would be able to provide unparalleled service to our customers

The original ski shop, began thirty seven years ago, has grown to encompass a myriad of products, gear and equipment. Today we carry snowboards, snow shoes and cross country equipment but remain true to our winter sports roots as one of the premiere ski and ski fashion retail stores in Connecticut. For the spring, summer and fall season we stock and specialize in several bicycle lines as well as a full range of kayaks and all the needed accessories for both sports.

Our continued commitment to growth has led to the incorporation of three web sites; www.ActionSportsCT.com, www.AutoRacksDirect.com and www.Iwantahelmet.com. These web sites have provided an alternative shopping option as well as complimenting our enhanced visibility.
